The Great Workshop Build - Day 4

Thursday 27th October, 2005
We started work on the roof structure today… beginning with some vertical pieces to hold the ridge board in place, ensuring that it would remain the correct height at each end. We then drew out a template of the roof on a piece of the sheet material we would use to cover the roof, this helped to see exactly how the roof would look and also give us the correct lengths and angles we would need to cut the trusses etc.
We cut the trusses two at a time and fixed them in place,
this worked well and we were soon through all twelve.

At this point I was left on my own for a while as Clive had
other business he needed to attend to for the afternoon (he popped back later to inspect my work!).

I began to put up the corner edging which the shiplap cladding would butt up against at each end and then started to fixing the first few boards in place – I was getting quite excited at this point as you could see how it was finally going to look!
